VEXIRA (staff share) back online

VEXIRA, the server that houses all of the staff shared drives, is back online after being down Sunday, October 18th. You should have access to it now. If you find it isn't working from a certain machine, reboot that machine and try again.

That said...Systems Dept. encourages you to upload any critical files to your GoogleApps account. It is redundant, but redundancy is a good thing when it comes to backups! Google Apps has made some changes recently that make batch uploading easier. See the instructions here.

M.O.R.E. - lending to other libraries resumes this week

We have resumed responding to requests from other libraries in M.O.R.E. this week.

We will be placing holds on items to be sent to LAC for processing and delivery. These will appear on your regular RPLs.

Clarification of RPL & floating collections

There is some confusion about the RPL since we have switched to floating collections.

When an item floats, the LOCATION of the item changes, but the COLLECTION CODE remains constant. So, if you sort the RPL by the COLLECTION CODE, you're going to see some codes that represent buildings other than your own.  For example, you may see the code FNFA on a RPL in Hamilton.

If an item is on your RPL, it should be in your building, and you need to search for it on the shelves. The fact that the collection code doesn't match the location is a result of floating collections and not an indication of problem with the RPL. You can still sort by collection code, just know that the "funny" codes will be housed near your normal code (e.g. FNFAs would be where the MNFAs are, if on a list at Hamilton).
